Hanna-Barbera Productions, or simply Hanna-Barbera, was an animation studio founded in 1957 by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera, the former directors of Tom and Jerry theatrical shorts. Hanna-Barbera introduced many characters such as Scooby-Doo, Yogi Bear and the Flintstones via television animation, and were also behind the popular Popeye animated series of the 1970s and 1980s, The All-New Popeye Hour. They were also responsible for Popeye and Son, a later series that introduced several changes to the Popeye mythos, and was not as popular as its predecessor, lasting only thirteen episodes. Dinky Dog was another H-B production, aired as part of The All-New Popeye Hour.
Since the death of Joseph Barbera in 2006, the Hanna-Barbera studio exists as an in-name-only company within Warner Bros. Animation.
