Martians are hostile aliens from the planet Mars, which appeared in the comic strip Thimble Theatre by E. C. Segar and also in later Popeye comic books.
Martians resort to various plans and schemes in their intent to conquer planet Earth. Their appearance is that of tall men wearing black robes and fez-like hats. Later cartoons have portrayed Martians differently, yet still as antagonistic. In Rocket to Mars, for instance, Martians are depicted as looking like whimsical ducks, except for their emperor, who bears some resemblance to Bluto or Brutus.
