This comic book issue is from Popeye, the original series published by Dell in 1948. The series was later renamed to Popeye the Sailor as it continued with other publishers. It was reprinted in the Popeye Classics series first published by IDW in 2012, and also in a collected hardcover edition beginning in 2013.

Synopsis

When Swee'Pea asks Popeye if pirates were ever in the area he says yes. Popeye then tells him to go out to play while he makes lunch. Popeye assumes Swee'Pea is playing pirates but then finds out that he has dug a huge pit around the house.

Synopsis

Olive convinces Popeye not to fight anymore but everyone else thinks he is a coward. But it is all a trick arranged by fight promoter Mr. Tillbox. He uses Olive to confuse Popeye so Kid Kabbage could easily knock out Popeye in the ring and boost ticket sales. When Olive discovers the deception she tells Popeye to beat-up The Kid in the streets. Mr. Tillbox is forced to refund the money to prevent the ticket holders from starting a riot.

Synopsis

Two dastardly villains involve Swee'Pea to complete their evil plot. After making several attempts to kidnap Swee'Pea, Popeye is visited by King Blozo's head of security Mr. Mouser. He shows a photo of the men revealing them to be Snagg and Baby Doll, the same men after Swee'Pea. After the criminal last kidnapping attempt fails, Popeye captures them. They confess to stealing the map and drawing it on Swee'Pea's back in invisible ink.

Synopsis

Pappy is tired of Popeye feeding him nothing but spinach. So Pappy concocts many schemes to get massive quantities of junk food. Pappy keeps getting sick so Popeye keeps calling a doctor. They all say Pappy is not eating healthy so Popeye starts to wonder if spinach is really healthy. Popeye begins to test how good spinach is and finds out what Pappy as been doing. Popeye tries to make Pappy understand that he must eat better to stay strong. Pappy only believes it after the neighbor kid beats him up.

Synopsis

Swee'Pea is home alone when a salesman comes to the door. The salesman mistakes Swee'Pea for a little girl and this makes Swee'Pea mad. When Popeye comes home Swee'Pea races out the door to the salesman's hotel and punches him.

Synopsis

While Swee'Pea and Popeye are fishing, Swee'Pea decides to find a better spot on the other side of the lake. On his first cast he gets a big one. After fighting it for hours he relies he actually hooked Popeye's line on the opposite shore.
